Races and Results
So, one thing that was REALLY timely for me to see, as a good reminder for WTTC, was the blog post at Stay On The Bike (thefatcyclist.com).
That's the message for all of us, not just those who poised to win a race. :^)
I was able to stay on the bike for the whole 12 hours at WTTC. I did stop for some bio-functions and replace water bottles in the pit, but never swung the leg over to get off.
It sounds obvious, when you say it simply like that, but the basics matter.
First rule of ultra-club is... STAY ON THE BIKE
True. If I had listened to Shane and stayed on the bike, my 508 experience would have been a few hours shorter. Took too long of a break in Eureka and hid in the van when the wind got spicy leaving Fallon. Lesson learned.
